Steam past the box
On Sunday 9th November The Railway Touring Company ran an excursion 'The Robin Hood' from St Pancras to Nottingham and Lincoln and back to Kings Cross. Billowing smoke on a bright autumn morning with the beat and breath of reciprocating power, 46115 Scots Guardsman hauled the luxury rolling stock and lucky diners through St Albans to cheers and salutes from all at the box.
The same company are running their usually pre-Christmas trip from Victoria to York picking up at St Albans. The date is Saturday 20th December and the St Albans time is 8.00am. As before the train is steam hauled only in the north bound direction by 'Union of South Africa' with the return being diesel hauled.
